Genesis 1-2

When God created man, he started talking to him. I know captain obvious, but that is an important fact.

This is important because this is where I need to start in prayer. I need to remember that God did not sprinkle fairy dust over the earth causing things to pop up and exist and then He moved on as an impartial creator.

God created and interacted

As you go through the Word of God, you will see every which way that God interacted with His creation (that’s us). Although throughout history the manner or way God communicated, was different the fact that He did never changed. Yes, there were periods between prophets, but God made a way for us to always be communicating with Him and vice versa.

God is an interactive God.

Before I begin in adoration, when my thoughts move to prayer I need to remember God wants to interact with me, God wants to talk to me and listen to me. He created us for relationship.

Prayer is not empty

Yes, we can discuss the things that hinder our prayers. I believe that these things exist, and I also believe that we can pray about them. Yes, we can talk about the fact that what God might be telling you, you might now want to hear or might be hard to handle. I believe (again as James McDonald so wisely says) that "Gods love is not a pampering love, but a perfecting love" so sometimes or maybe a lot of the time growing with God is painful. Before all of that though I need to remember all of this is true because God wants to be in relationship with us, communicating with us, correcting us, using us, saving us. Everything else about prayer is powerful because we know this to be true.

Not sure if you can believe that God cares enough about you to want to redeem you and have relationship with you that involves communicating?

Turn to the cross.

How do we know God is faithful?

2 Corinthians 1:20 "For every one of God's promises are 'yes' in him; therfore also through him the 'Amen' is spoken, to the glory we give to God" NET

Through Jesus, we have our yes to God's promises. God is faithful to do all he has said he would do because of Jesus. (I heard some one talk about this and I cannot remember who to give proper credit to but this blew me away.)

Do you believe?

When we pray today, lets remember God wants to interact with us and we can have faith that every thing God says (which includes everything He says about prayer) we can 100% believe, have faith in, and hope in because of Jesus.
